Jacqueline B. Jackie Medlen, 81, of Altoona, Iowa, formerly of Grand Island, NE, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at her grandson home in Altoona. Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at noon at Sunset Memorial Gardens, in Hastings, NE. Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 11:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Jackie was born January 19, 1933, at Red Cloud, NE. She was the daughter of Marion and Tina (Morgan) Reichstein. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold Cody Medlen on February 14, 2011. Survivors of the immediate family include her son and daughter-in-law Dale and Donna Medlen of Sioux Falls, SD. Others left to cherish her memory include her five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jackie grew up in Cowles, NE graduating from Cowles High School in 1950. She married Harold Cody Medlen on July 16, 1951 at Smith Center, KS. Jackie was a homemaker caring for her family while living in Chambers and Hastings, NE before moving to Grand Island in 1969. Jackie loved caring for her many animal friends, dogs, cats, squirrels alike, she treated them all as her own. Memorials are suggested to the familys choice.
