Hai Im Chong, 100, of Grand Island, NE died Friday, April 12, 2024, at her home with family by her side. A memorial service will be held at a later date in South Korea. Hai Im was born February 20, 1924, in Seoul, South Korea. She was the daughter of Yul Jin Chong and Young Nyeo Chong. She grew up in South Korea. Hai Im married Kyung Man Kang on April 9, 1943 in South Korea. They lived in South Korea raising their six children. Mr. Kang died in 1995. Hai Im immigrated to the United States in 1999 to be near her children.
Hai Im enjoyed time spent with her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother to four generations. She relished her walks around the neighborhood collecting can and visiting with neighbors. She enjoyed McDonald's ice cream cones. In the last year of Hai Im's life, she traveled for two months witnessing God's beautiful creations, visiting the Grand Canyon and sights throughout Arizona and California. She attended her great granddaughter's wedding in California in September 2023. She amazed all in attendance by dancing the night away. This legendary woman will be greatly missed.

Other left to cherish her memory include her 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and two sisters.
Hai Im was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Londyn Kuinn Smith, son-in-law, Steven Nichols, two sisters, and three brothers.
