Greg A. Durning, 56, of Ord, Nebraska formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska died unexpectedly, Thursday, January 13, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center. Mr. Durnings wishes were to be cremated. Memorial service will be Monday, January 17, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Scott Taylor will officiate. The family request casual attire in remembrance of Greg. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Greg was born February 26, 1954, at Grand Island, NE. He was the son of Troy B. & Iris E. (Layher) Durning. Survivors of the immediate family include a step-daughter, Heather Brodsky of Grand Island, NE One brother & sister-in-law, Brian & Deb Durning of Grand Island, NE Nieces and nephews, Nikki, Brandi & Sydney Durning, Troy & Jeff Tesmer. His special friend Barb Lyions of Ord, NE Barbs children and their spouses, Mike & Tammy Lyions of Grand Island, NE Shawn & Lara Lyions of Hastings, NE Greg & Kim Lyions of Greeley, NE T. J. & Molly Lyions of Greeley, NE And several of Barbs grandchildren. Greg grew up in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Sr. High School in 1972. He was a car lift salesman for Hunter. After which he began OTR trucking for several trucking firms in the area. He married Judy Hagenmaster in August of 1984, at Grand Island, NE. They lived in Grand Island and she is still a dear friend of the family to this day. He was a music lover and a NASCAR Racing fan. He touched the life of everyone he met in a special way with his caring, faith filled, words and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested the Nebraska Humane Society. He is welcomed into heaven by his parents and sister, Deb Tesmer. Music selections for the service were; "Homesick" ~ "I Wish We All Could Have Been Ready" ~ "Finally Home", with a solo of "How Great Thou Art" by Rev. Scott Taylor.
