Obituary

Glorene E. Harders, 86, of Grand Island, NE, formerly of Wood River, NE, died Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Wedgewood Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Marty L. Egging will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 29, 2016 from 5 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a Catholic Daughter's Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Glorene was born September 1, 1929, at St. Paul, NE. She was the daughter of Leo H. and Mary Jane (Ambrose) Mulligan. Survivors of the immediate family include her children and their spouses, Tim Harders of Grand Island, NE Kathy and Jim Hall of Council Bluffs, IA Tom and Michelle Harders of Crete, NE Kristy and Mel Hewitt of De Funiak Springs, FL Michelle and Mike See of Albany, OR Brothers, Bernard Mulligan of Lincoln, NE Patrick Mulligan of Grand Island, NE Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Dan and Brier Hall, Jenny and Jackson Dick, Bridget Hall, Chelsea Harders, Myk Rose, Nicole Rose, and her great granddaughter Julia Dick. Glorene grew up in the Loup City area before moving with her family to Grand Island as a youngster. She graduated from St. Marys Catholic High School in 1947. She worked as a switchboard supervisor for the telephone company for 11 years. Glorene married Arnold J. Harders on November 29, 1958, at St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island, NE. They farmed east of Cairo until 1962 when they moved to the Harders home place north of Wood River. Glorene worked at the V.A. Medical Center in dietetics from 1984 until retiring in 1994. Arnold died on July 25, 2010. Glorene was a prayer warrior. You could rely on her constant prayers for any request. She was a woman of faith instilling a faith legacy in each of her children. She always ended her conversation with a God Bless You. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She prided herself with her impeccable attendance both at school and on the job. Glorene was a wonderful baker and was best known for her kolaches and cinnamon rolls. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, a prayer chain member, a 50 plus year member and past board member of Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Ave Maria #1263. She was a past member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River where she taught Religious Education. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold, and grandson Jacob Harders.
