Obituary

Gerald Jud/Robbie A. Robison, 82, of Grand Island, NE, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center with his family by his side. Services will be Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy Honor Team. Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2013, from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Mr. Robison was born on December 4, 1930, at Grand Island, NE, the son of Harold and Gladys (Shriner) Robison. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years LaVonne Robison, on July 24, 2003. Survivors of his immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Pat Robison of Grand Island, NE Mike and Karen Robison of St. Paul, NE A daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Phil Van De Walle of Doniphan, NE A brother, Robert Swede & Emma Robison of Yorba, CA A sister, Joan Stevenson of McCook, NE Others left to cherish his memory include eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. As an infant, Mr. Robison and his family moved to Alda, NE and he graduated from Alda High School in 1948. He entered the U.S. Navy on June 2, 1949, serving overseas in the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged on March 27, 1953. He was united in marriage to LaVonne L. White on May 12, 1951, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island, NE. Upon his return from the service, the couple resided at Grand Island. He immediately began his employment with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company; working for the company as a lineman, install and repairman and technician for the test center. He retired in 1987 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers and the Platt -Duetsche Society. He loved time spent with his family, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jud will be remembered forever for his sense of humor, his warm heart and as the best grandpa ever. He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, his wife LaVonne , two great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Kenneth Stevenson and sister-in-law, Bea Robison.
