George J. Pfeifer was born at the family farm north of Spalding, Nebraska, in southern Wheeler County on November 23, 1934. He was the youngest of thirteen children born to Leo and Clara (Weber) Pfeifer.
George was a lifetime farmer and rancher. He was an active member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Michaels Council #13584. His love of farming and taking care of cattle and hogs was at the heart of who he was. The only time that he left the farm for a substantial time was when he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He married Margaret Jean Foster on June 6, 1964, at the Church of the Visitation in OConnor.
George was a very prayerful and faith-filled man. He loved to play cards with Jean and their friends and family. Jean and George also loved to Polka. As their children got involved in high school athletics, George and Jean could be found on the sidelines or bleachers of pretty much every game that the Wheeler Central Broncos played for close to two decades.
George is preceded in death by brothers Bernard, Ambrose, Frank, Edwin, and Leo; sisters Agatha Hinkle and Caroline Kershaw.
George is survived by his wife, Margaret Jean (Foster), children Janet Partridge of Scottsdale, AZ, Brian Pfeifer of Tallahassee, FL, Eric Pfeifer of Spalding, Matt Pfeifer and fianc Angie of Greeley, Joe and Amanda Pfeifer of Arvada, CO, Tad and Jennifer Pfeifer of North Platte, and Sara and Adam Skorcz of Montrose, CO, fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
