Obituary

Gary L. Carothers, 70, of Grand Island, NE, died Thursday, January 12, 2017, at his home. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Pastor Kris Schroeder will officiate. Lunch will be served immediately following the service in the community room of Curran Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date at Holy Shepard Lutheran Church's Columbarium in Lakewood, CO. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Gary was born November 11, 1946 at Portland, OR. He was the son of Perry and Geraldine (Bishop Moeller) Carothers. Survivors of his immediate family include his daughter and son-in-law, Steve and Karen (Carrie Ann) Brougham of Chaska, MN Sister and brother-in-law, Del and Cheryl (Carothers) Holz of Lakewood, CO Others left to cherish his memory include his grandson, Cameron Brougham of Minneapolis, MN and a granddaughter, Cassidy Brougham of Chaska, MN Gary grew up in Broken Bow and Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Sr. High School in 1964. He was an entrepreneur owning and operating several business including the Round Table Lounge in Grand Island and Central City as well as Hard 8 Auto. He enjoyed playing games with his family, watching football and playing poker. He was the funniest person on the planet! Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
