Garnette L. Dilla, 84, of Grand Island, died peacefully, Saturday, December 6, 2014, at her daughters home in Grand Island with family by her side. Services will be Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Todd K. Philipsen will be the celebrant. Inurnment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a recitation of the rosary at 9:30 a.m. with family receiving friends until service time. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Garnette was born December 4, 1930, at Ord, Nebraska. She is the daughter of Frank J. & Helen (Nevrkla) Kokes.
She is preceded in death by her husband George "Jr." Dilla.

Garnette grew up and received her education at District 40 in rural Ord, Nebraska. She graduated from Ord High School in 1948. She attended Kearney Teachers College and was a teacher in rural Ord, Nebraska for five years. She married George B. "Jr." Dilla Jr. on July 7, 1952, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord, Nebraska. They lived in Grand Island and Garnette was employed with St. Francis Medical Center for 13 years in housekeeping, retiring in 1998. George died November 28, 2004.
Garnette was a Brownie & 4-H leader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, husband, George, and sister, Grace OConnor.
