Obituary
Fern M. Bobek, 94, of Pierce, NE died Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Premier Estates in Pierce, NE with her family at her side. Private family inurnment will be in Prospect View Cemetery, in Pierce, NE. Curran Funeral Chapel of Grand Island, NE is assisting the family.
Fern was born November 4, 1923, at rural Pierce, NE. She is the daughter of Emil & Anna (Plahn) Altwine.
Survivors of the immediate family include one daughter, Betty Krueger of Pierce, NE
One son, Dennis Bobek of Blair, NE
Brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy "Dick" & Linda Altwine of Billings, MT
13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 28 great- great grandchildren.
Fern grew up in Pierce County, where she attended District 26 School. She married Michael "Mike" Bobek on August 16, 1941, at rural Pierce County. The couple farmed in Pierce County and Fern was employed at Henningston Egg Factory. In 1961 she began working for Norfolk Regional Center. She worked for Dale Electronic doing line work from 1969, retiring in 1985. Mr. Bobek died June 7, 1980.
Fern enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards and crafts.
She was a member of the Pierce Methodist Church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Fern is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mike, daughters, Donna Rae Teboe, Janie Kay Falk, grandson, Billy Buskirk, great great granddaughter, Ryah Wilcox, and brothers, Raymond, Arnold, and Donald Altwine.
