OBIT: EVELYN I. ANDERSON DOLAN Evelyn I. Anderson Dolan, 89, of Grand Island completed her Heavenly journey, surrounded by her family on Monday, August 4, 2014, at Tiffany Square. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Friday, August 8, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas A. Ryan and Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski Jr. will concelebrate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2014, from 4 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Evelyn was born on October 24, 1924, on the family home near Wilmot, South Dakota. She is the daughter of Frank Ewart & Evelyn Lillian (Egan) Cable. Survivors of the immediate family include four sons & three daughters-in-law: Larry & Pat Anderson of Grand Island, NE Marvin & Marsha Anderson of Aurora, NE Ronald & Pam Anderson of ONeill, NE Joseph Anderson of Grand Island, NE Six daughters & five sons-in-law: Eloise Ellie & Larry Cornelius of Grand Island, NE Marilyn Jacobson of Grand Island, NE Rose Marie & Anthony McPhillips of David City, NE Susan & Bradley Czaplewski of Grand Island, NE Linda & John Berry of Owasso, OK Helen & Steven Parr of Roseland, NE Step children: Denise Dolan of Dubuque, IA Ellen and Mark Merrill of Grand Island Paul and Shelley Dolan of Strawberry Point, IA Berne Dolan of Dubuque, IA. 46 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren with three more blessings to come. Sisters-in-law: Sr. Evangeline Anderson of Yankton, SD Irene Myer of Gunnison, CO Evelyn was educated in rural schools and graduated from Milbank High School in 1942. She continued her education at Aberdeen Teachers College. After college she began teaching in rural & small town schools for 5 years. She married Joseph W. Anderson on May 29, 1948 as St. Marys Catholic Church in Harrold, South Dakota. They farmed near Harrold for 8 years before moving to Rapid City, South Dakota in 1956. They moved to Grand Island in 1960. Joe Anderson died on December 2, 1981. Evelyn married Ambrose Dolan on May 23, 1987, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island, NE. They lived in Grand Island. Ambrose Dolan died September 16, 2007. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Past president and member of its Altar Society. Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Queen of Peace #2227. She was actively involved at Central Catholic High School, in the Fine Arts Guild, one of the original founding members of Karnival Kapers Committee. She is a Cornerstone Member and received the Central Catholic Hall of Fame award in 2001. Evelyns special joy in life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowerbeds, crocheting & reading. Her husbands, parents, and a brother, Gordon Cable, precede her in death.
