Eugene L. “Gene” Greene, 75, of Grand Island, NE, died Friday, June 5, 2026, at Tiffany Square Care Center surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church. The celebrant is Rev. Thomas Vijumon Choorackal. Eugene will be cremated following the funeral mass. Private family inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, NE at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. Gene was born August 7, 1950, in Sioux Falls, SD. He is the son of Harry H. and Harriet S. (Winden) Greene. He grew up in Sioux Falls attending Bancroft Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. He continued his education at South Dakota State receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Restaurant Management in 1973. He married Loretta Bowman, on July 31, 1976 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and later Omaha, NE, for three years, before settling in Grand Island. Gene worked as a food broker handling the sales and marketing for various wholesale distribution companies.

Gene enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, and time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a Knights of Columbus member.

Gene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Loretta Green of Grand Island, NE
