Betty was born on June 13th, 1935, to Mark and Cora Magdalene "Madge" Shea in Jerseyville, Illinois. She met the love of her life, Lee Mossman at a "Broom Dance" in Grafton, Illinois. They were married on her mother's birthday (June 9th, 1956) and came close to celebrating 69 years together before Lee's passing on February 26th of this year. Betty and Lee were blessed with six children: Cathy White, Cindy Beran (the late Doug), Mark (Mitzi), Larry (Kathy Maxey), Steve, and Terri (Steve) Beck.

Betty and Lee lived in Jerseyville and Alton, Illinois, before moving to Kearney, Nebraska, in 1968, while Betty was pregnant with their 6th child. They later moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. Betty held various part-time jobs, but her most important and coveted role in life was being the best Mother and Grandmother to her family! She was the glue that held us together. She was our rock, our confidant, our sounding board. She gave the best advice even when you didn't want to hear it. She was so loved and respected by her family who will miss her terribly but are comforted to know that she and Dad are together again.

For several decades, Betty and Lee enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends at their cabin at Harlan County Reservoir and "snow-birding" in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Betty and Lee loved to dance and you would find them on the dance floor at all weddings and special occasions. Betty enjoyed playing pinochle with Lee and extended family and friends and ten-point pitch with her children and grandchildren and even great grandchildren.

Betty and Lee were dedicated to their Catholic faith and long-time members of St. Leo's Parish. Their Catholic faith was also exhibited in their service to both Kearney Catholic and Grand Island Central Catholic, the high schools their children attended.

In addition to her six children, Betty was also blessed and survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and her first great great grandchild.

Betty is also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Rowling, and numerous nephews and nieces.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, her three siblings John (Loraine), Jim (Peggy) and Catherine, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, her son-in-law Doug Beran, and her beloved husband Lee.

The family would also like to thank the care staff at Heritage at Sagewood and St. Croix Hospice.
