Obituary

Edward T. Eddy Dugan, 59, of Greeley, Nebraska, died unexpectedly Friday, July 15, 2011, at Howard County Medical Center, in St. Paul, Nebraska. Services will be Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley, NE. The Rev. Harold R. Kurtenbach will officiate. Burial will be in OConner Cemetery, at OConner, NE. Visitation will be Monday, July 18, 2011, from 4 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting with arrangements. Eddy was born August 9, 1951, at Chicago, IL. He was the son of Gearld V. & Sara (Connolly) Dugan. Survivors of the immediate family include three sisters & one brother-in-law, Maureen Handley of Glen Ellyn, IL Gearldine & Tony Pacelli of Chicago, IL Kate Dugan of Chicago, IL Two brothers & sisters-in-law, Gearld V. & Ira Dugan Jr. of Chicago, IL Tim & Kay Dugan of Tinley Park, IL Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Eddy grew up in Chicago, graduating from Marist High School in 1969. He attended Kearney State College and graduated from Chicago State University in 1974, with a Bachelor Degree in Vocational Education. He married Sharon Huber in 1974 in Chicago, IL. They lived in Kearney, NE where Eddy was the Vocational Education teacher at Kearney Public High School. He moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1979 and continued his teaching career at the Vocational High School there. He was a committed instructor, skilled at working with young people and was their best advocate. He participated in the VICA Program, sponsoring students in a vocational/leadership competition held yearly in Kentucky. He retired in 2004 to Greeley, NE. He was liked by all who met him. He enjoyed working with and riding his horses. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
