Duane F. Hansen, 67, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare with his family at his side. Duanes wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the chapel of Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Shari Lodel will officiate. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Duane was born June 14, 1948, at Valentine, Nebraska. He was the son of Kenneth and Harriett (Albee) Hansen.
Survivors of the immediate family include his son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Sarah Hansen of Bradshaw, NE
Daughters and son-in-law, Kristie and Jay Warner of Grand Island, NE and their children, Kaitie, Addie, and A.J.
Wendy Hansen and her special friend Ramon Sigala of Hastings, NE and her children, Joey Hansen and Juan Sigala
Sister, Patricia Bodenstedt of Brunswick, NE
Duane grew up in Omaha before graduating from Plainview High School in 1966. He entered the Army National Guard in 1966 serving until 1972. He married Barbara Moser on May 31, 1968 at Neligh, NE. He lived in Norfolk, Brunswick and Neligh communities working as a welder. While in Brunswick he also owned and operated a service station. He moved to Grand Island in 1986 and was a welder for FSI and later drove truck for G.I. Express and Nash Finch before retiring in 2008.
Duane enjoyed boating, skiing and fishing. He also enjoyed winning card games and playing darts. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche Society and the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, Duane James D.J. Hansen, brothers, Kenneth, Raymond and his twin, Blaine Hansen and a sister, Linda Hieter.
Memorials are suggested to the familys choice.
