Doug Henry entered this world September 18, 1952 in McCook, Nebraska. He was the third son of Stanley and Jean (Chittenden) Henry, and was followed by a daughter. They later relocated to Cozad, NE, and Doug attended Rural District 28. He graduated from Cozad High School and attended Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, Iowa, where he married Kristin McDowell October 15, 1971.
Doug and Kristin lived in Ottumwa, then moved to Colorado Springs in May 1972 for one year. They moved back to Albia, IA where their three children were born. They moved to Lexington, where Doug worked several jobs – he was head of Lexington Public Schools Building and Grounds for many years. After two years in Gothenburg, they moved to Grand Island where he worked for Grand Island Public Schools until his retirement. Doug and Kristin enjoyed working together in their church, their family and traveling. He was a true Husker fan!
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 52 years, Kristin of Grand Island; children Sheila (Chad) Vester of Calhan, CO, Becky Grosvenor of Grand Island, and Kevin Henry of Smyrna, GA, and Mitsu Fujita and Ai Ito of Japan. Grandchildren are Josh Grosvenor, Carson and Katie Vester. He also has a sister, Debbie Eby, of Owatonna, MN. Preceding him in death were his parents, Stan and Jean Henry, and brothers, Don and Dale, and a niece, Tara Eby.
Doug loved flowers, but in lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations to CIY (Youth Camp) at Third City Christian Church.
