Dorothy Ann Vejvoda, 93, of Seward, NE formerly of Grand Island, NE died, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Ridgewood Rehab and Care Center in Seward, NE.  Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island.  Rev. Robin Bashir will celebrate the funeral mass.  Private family inurnment will be in Saint Wenceslaus Cemetery in Verdigre, NE.  Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a vigil service at 6 p.m.  Your thoughts and prayers may be given at www.curranfuneralchapel.com under Dorothy's obituary.  Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or donor's choice.  Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Dorothy was born December 12, 1931, at Ulysses, Nebraska.  The daughter of Frank H. & Mary (Pospisil) Swanda.

Survivors of her immediate family include her son & daughter-in-law:  Sidney & Sandy Kindler of Bullhead City, AZ

Daughter & son-in-law:  Sharon & Ronald Burhoop of Utica, NE

Grandchildren, Jason, Jon & Justin Burhoop, Sidney Kindler II, Samantha Kindler, and Josh Porter.

Great grandchildren, Cohen and Kinnley Burhoop, Hayden and Brennan Burhoop, Lydia, Lucy, Lincoln, and Leo Burhoop, Phoenix Porter

Dorothy grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1949.  She married Richard Kindler on June 12, 1949 in Fremont, NE.  To this union children Sidney and Sharon were born.  The couple lived in Ulysses, Lincoln, and Seward where Dorothy raised her children.  Dorothy moved to North Platte, NE in 1971 and was employed for UPS as a driver, clerk, and in maintenance.  She moved to Grand Island in 1991 where she met and later married Edward Vejvoda on June 23, 1996.  They lived in Grand Island.  Dorothy was a fan of her grandchildren and loved watching their sporting and school events.  She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, nurturing her flower garden, polka music and bingo.  Mr. Vejvoda died in 2001 after which, Dorothy attended daily mass with her close widow friends.

Dorothy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, she volunteered at the Parish Thrift Store, and was active in its Altar Society and parish choir.  She was also a member and Past President of the North Platte Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Richard Kindler, Edward Vejvoda, brothers, Edwin, Archer, and Herry Swanda.
