Dorothy "Anne" Jones, 92, of Grand Island, NE died November 14, 2023, at Primrose Retirement Community of Grand Island. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas A. Ryan will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 20, 2023, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the church with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Queen of Peace #2227. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Anne was born July 26, 1931, in Decatur County, rural Traer, KS. She was the daughter of Alvin Reece and Mary Barbara (Sughroue) Rothmeyer. She grew up on the family farm near Traer, KS attending county grade school and Oberlin High School in Oberlin, KS. The family moved to McCook and Anne graduated from McCook High School in 1949. After graduation Anne attended McCook Community College. She was a secretary at the Bureau of Reclamation. Anne married John A. Jones on August 26, 1956 at McCook, NE. They moved to Lincoln and Rushville, NE before moving back to McCook in 1961. In 1981 the family moved to Grand Island. After Anne's children were grown, she worked as a sales associate for Robertson Furniture Store and Nelson Furniture Store. John died in July of 2013. Anne enjoyed traveling with her husband, having visited 27 countries. She spent many weekends square dancing with her husband. Anne was an excellent baker and enjoyed playing bridge with her card club friends. Anne is a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Queen of Peace #3227. Anne is survived by her children, daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Anne Laurette Jones Kunstman and Jim Kunstman of Overland Park, KS Mary Jo and Scott Riddell of Syracuse, NY Sons and daughters-in-law, Gary J. and Kris Jones of Gillette, WY Greg J. and Sharon Jones of Grand Island, NE Grant A. and Mary Jones of Ponca City, OK Sister, Delores Lawson of Hay Center, NE Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Brandon Jones, Taylor Jones, Mitchell Jones, Brianna Rooney-Scheetz, Ryan Rooney, Emily Jones, Trevor Jones, Zac Jones, Walker Jones, Gabrielle Jones, Isabella Jones, Mary Rose Jones, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Anne is preceded in death by her husband, John, sister, Lorraine Phillips, brothers, Al, Wayne, Larry, and Gary Rothmeyer.
