Donna M. Stortzum, 78, of Silver Creek, NE died Monday, April 22, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Donna's wish was to be cremated. Donna was born August 19, 1945, in Effingham County, IL. The daughter of Charles and Leah (Devore) Wattles. Donna grew up in Clay County, IL, graduating from Clay City High School in 1963. She married Delmar O. Stortzum in Flora, IL on May 18, 1963. The couple made their home in Illinois, Colorado and Nebraska. Donna's passion was horses and she worked alongside her husband training and racing thoroughbred horses. Mr. Stortzum died December 7, 2019, after which Donna moved to Nebraska to be near her children. Donna enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by her sons, Doug (Janet) Stortzum of Topeka, KS Devin (Angela) Stortzum of Milford, NE Darin (Susan) Stortzum of Silver Creek, NE Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren Sister, Jane (Lindel) Lewis of Effingham, IL Brother, Mike (Diane) Wattles of Mahomet, IL Donna is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Delmar Stortzum, and grandson, Derek Stortzum.
