Dolores M. Hayes, 89, of Grand Island, formerly of McCook, NE, died Monday, May 3, 2021 at Tiffany Square Care Center. Dolores wishes were to be cremated and inurnment will be at a later date at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE. Survivors of her immediate family include: children and their spouses, Carol (Robert) Fritz of Owatonna, MN, Sandra (Ed) Kehler of McCook, NE, Greg (KayLynn) Hayes of Grand Island, NE, Roland (Kari) Hayes of St. Joseph, MO and Tyler (Sophista) Hayes of Bangkok, Thailand. Brother, Jerome (Sylvia) Conlin of Burlington, CO and sister, Cheryl (Bill) Morgan of Tucson, AZ. Others left to cherish her memory include six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dolores attended country school in Red Willow County and graduated from high school in Cambridge, NE in 1950. She trained and worked as a telephone operator in Sydney, NE before moving back to Cambridge and then McCook. Dolores married Lewis Hayes on October 16, 1954 in Loveland, CO and they made their home in McCook. Dolores worked for various financial institutions before retiring from Dayco in McCook after over 20 years of service. Dolores moved to Grand Island, NE in 2018 to be closer to her husband who at that time resided at Good Samaritan's Grand Island Village. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lewis Hayes, infant sister, Rose Catherine Conlin, and sister, Jean Axelson.
