Diana M. Smith, 69, of Grand Island, NE, died at her home.  Her wish was to be cremated.  A private family service will be at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.  You are encouraged to sign Diana's guestbook at www.curranfuneralchapel.com under her obituary.  Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Diana was born August 4, 1955, in Hamilton Onterio, Canada.  She is the daughter of Cornelious and Nellie (DeGroot) VanWeert.  She grew up in Canada before attending boarding school in England.  Her father was a chemical engineer thus the family traveled extensively throughout the world.  They settled in Casper, WY where Diana completed high school at Kelly Walsh High School graduating in 1974.  Diana worked as a stocker for Wal-Mart.  She lived in various communities before settling in the Elm Creek and Kearney area.  She retired in 2019 after 25 years of service.  Diana moved to Grand Island in 2022 to be near her daughter.

Diana was an avid fisherman, she enjoyed singing and dancing and was a devoted Elvis fan.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammie (Bobby) Williamson of Alda, NE

Grandchildren, Chelsea (Logan) Kaup, Gregory Dunn, Zachery Williams, Zachery Wagner, and eight great grandchildren.

Sister, Wendy (Roy) Pellitier and a brother, Brian VenWeert both of Maine.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
