PFC Corey J. Schloer, 25, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 22, 2012, at his home. Memorial services will be Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Todd K. Philipsen will officiate. Inurnment will be the Grand Island City Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Corey was born September 1, 1987, at Grand Island, NE. He was the son of Paul J. Weidner and Julie K. Schloer. Survivors of the immediate family include his mother and step-father, Julie & Scott Horinek of Salina, KS Father, Paul J. Weidner of Grand Island, NE Step-brothers and their spouses, Michael & Angie Horinek of Phillipsburg, KS and their children, Trent, Tanner and Ty. Jeremy and Shelby Horinek of Phillipsburg, KS and their son, Jack. Step-sister, Sara Horinek of Wichita, KS Aunts and uncles, Cheryl and John Green of Grand Island, NE Cheri and Kevin Bellamy of Elwood, NE and their son Devin Gall Kim and Stan Lilienthal of Grand Island, NE and their sons, Wyatt and Collin Step grandparents, Ron & Janet Horinek of Phillipsburg, KS Corey grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Sr. High in 2006. He attended CCC-Grand Island campus completing his welding certification. He was employed at Filter Specialist, DTE Railcar, and was working at Case New Holland as a welder at the time of his death. He was a PFC in the 295th Ordnance Company, Hastings, NE, Army Reserve. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, playing guitar and shooting pool. Memorials are suggested to the familys choice.
