Clarence F. Pfeifer, 89, of the Nebraska Veterans Home, died Friday,
April 30, 2010, at the Home. Services will be Wednesday, May 5, 2010,
at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Mark A.
Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park
Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United Veterans
Honor Guard and the Air Force Honor Team. Visitation will be Tuesday,
May 4, 2010, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a vigil & rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
Clarence was born January 24, 1921, at the family homestead in Spalding, Nebraska. He was the > son of Julius & Elizabeth "Elsie" (Bernt) Pfeifer.
Survivors of the immediate family include one son & daughter-in-law:

Three daughters & sons-in-law: Karen & Mike Robison of St. Paul, NE
Kim & Galen "Gus" Meyer of Grand Island, NE
Kam & Kevin Rathjen of Grand Island, NE
One sister Lucille DuVall of Denver, CO
Half-sister & brother-in-law, Emma "Dee" & Don Adamek of Grand
Junction, CO
Half-brother & sister-in-law, Tom & Helen Pfeifer of Montgomery, AL.
Others left to cherish his memory include grandchildren and their
spouses, Katey (Robison) & Jeremy Mueller, Abbi (Robison) & Jeff
Riley, Emily Robison, Jacob & Sonya Robison, Chad Pfeifer, Clay
Pfeifer, Carlie Pfeifer, Annaliese (Meyer) & Chad Beck, Allison Meyer,
Wade Meyer, Grant Meyer, Kormic Rathjen & Brinn Rathjen.
Eight great grandchildren.
Clarence grew up in Spalding, Nebraska and received his education
there. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on October 26, 1942 serving as a
engine mechanic until his honorable discharge on February 13, 1946.
He returned to Grand Island and was employed at the Army Air Field as a mechanic.
He married P. Virginia Ross on September 18, 1948 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand
Island, NE. They lived in Grand Island and in 1949 Clarence began his
association with Diers Ford, Lincoln, Mercury Company working as shop foreman
before beginning as a salesman in 1956. He won several top sales awards throughout his
career with Ford, Lincoln, Mercury before retiring in 1985. He enjoyed the last several
years at the Nebraska Veterans Home where he received wonderful attention and loving
care, which his family is so thankful for. His wife, Virginia, died on March 28, 1977.
Clarences lifes work seemed not in what he made but in what he did for his family and others. He was known for his antique car collection. He enjoyed bowling and will be remembered lovingly for his unique style.
He was Charter Member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a 4th
Degree Knights of Columbus.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents & step-mother, Leona Cook
Pfeifer, great grandchildren, Gracie M. Mueller & Michael J. Pfeifer,
brothers, Morris & Alvin Pfeifer and a sister Dolores Power.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament
Catholic Church or Grand Island Central Catholic Foundation or the Nebraska
Children's Home Society.
