Charlene M. Zwink, 82, of Grand Island, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society, Grand Island, surrounded by her family. Services will be Thursday, July 26, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Charlene was born July 5, 1930, at Hastings, NE. She was the daughter of William & Viola (McNeff) Zwink.
Survivors of the immediate family include her sister, Cleetis Meyer of Grand Island, NE

Grand nieces and nephews, Kimberly and Dave Puhrmann, Jeffrey, Allison and Ashley Berry, Joseph, Michael, Sarah, and Katie Golka, Christopher and Alyssa Skeen.

Charlene grew up in Hastings, Nebraska, graduating from St. Cecilia Catholic High School in 1947. She continued her education at Lincoln Business School receiving her degree in 1949. She moved to Washington D.C. and worked in the secretary pool at the Pentagon. While there she was able to attend President Harry S. Trumans second inauguration ceremony. She returned to Hastings, NE, working for the Naval Ordinance Plant until its closing, after which she was employed at Hastings City National Bank. She moved to Grand Island in 1967. She was employed at Equitable Building and Loan as a bookkeeper until retiring. In her retirement she worked as a secretary for St. Marys Cathedral.
Charlenes biggest joy was her family. She loved playing with the grandnieces and nephews and celebrating the holidays, especially the 4th of July and Christmas. She also was an avid bowler.
She was a member of St. Marys Cathedral, Cathedral Ladies, and VFW Auxiliary.
She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, William and Viola Zwink, one brother, Wendell Zwink, and brother-in-law, Ralph Meyer.
