Obituary

Carrie Ann Nagl, 86, of Grand Island, NE, died Thursday, February 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Jorge Canela will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to The Family of the Good Shephard, PO Box 911, Grand Island, NE 68802. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Carrie Ann was born April 30, 1935, in Oconto, NE. She was the daughter of Harold and Zola (DuGuay) Headley. She grew up outside of Oconta at Red Fern Table. She graduated from Oconto High School in 1952. Carrie continued her education in South Dakota where she received her Associate Degree in Business. She moved to Omaha working as secretary in the recruiting office at Bellevue College. She later worked for the Columbian Fathers as vocation office secretary. She married William J. Nagl on August 28, 1965, in Omaha, NE. The couple lived in Omaha and Bellevue until moving to Southern Missouri in 1977. They relocated to Pensacola/Cantonment, FL area in 1978 until 1993. The couple were instrumental in opening and operating a therapeutic foster home for children in the area. Carrie joined the Society of Our Lady Of The Most Holy Trinity in 1993. She was one of the first Consecrated Widows of the Society. She lived in Robstown, TX until moving to the Diocese of Grand Island in 2009, when she and her daughter Catherine, established, The Family of the Good Shephard, residing in Kearney, Ravenna, and moving to Grand Island in 2018. Carrie was an avid reader and loved sharing conversation with her family and friends. She enjoyed preparing holiday dinners and sharing the meal with family and friends alike. Carrie was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, a founding member of St. Mary's Catholic Daughters of Americas in Bellevue, NE. She will be missed by her daughter, Catherine Nagl of Grand Island, NE Brother, Thomas (Sheryl) Headley of Silver Springs, Maryland Sister-in-law, Marilyn Headley of Sun City, FL Her "adopted grandchildren", Sapphire, Eleyna, Micah, and many other children, Carrie opened her home and cared for. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Rodney Headley, and a sister, Molle Jorgenson. You are encouraged to sign her guest book at www.curranfuneralchapel.com under her obituary.
