Brett J. Bugenhagen, 58, of Grand Island, NE, died Monday, October 8, 2018, at his residence of natural causes. Private family services will be held in Custer, SD at a later date. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Brett was born in Mitchell, SD on September 23, 1960 to John and Jan (Abbott) Bugenhagen. After high school, he attended the University of South Dakota Springfield where he honed his abundant skills in automobile restoration, a driving passion of his throughout his life. This passion took him across the Midwest, eventually settling in Grand Island where he befriended two remarkable individuals who became family, Harry Romans and Mary Jo Cunningham. He is survived by his parents of Custer and his brothers; Barry of Rapid City, SD; Brook and his wife Suzann of Norfolk, NE and Bill of Rapid City. He is also survived by his five nephews and a niece. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
