Brad A. Newcomb, 65, of Kearney, NE, died Thursday, April 22, 2021, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE. Brad's wish was to be cremated. His life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Marty Egging will officiate. The service will be livestreamed on Curran Funeral Chapel's Facebook page. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 30, 2021, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Brad was born January 20, 1956, in Des Moines, IA. He was the son of Cris and Rae (Imes) Newcomb. Brad graduated from Grand Island Sr. High School in 1974, continuing his education at UNL. In March of 1977 Brad began his internship working with Nebraska Game & Parks. He completed his Bachelor Degree in Biology in 1979, accepting a permanent position with the state. He made his home in Lincoln and later Kearney, working 44 years for Nebraska Game & Parks. At the time of his death, he was the Southwest District Fisheries Division Manager.
Brad loved the out-of-doors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and skilled at cooking his catch. He enjoyed family outings and loved frying his delicious walleye for family and friends. He also was a fan of thoroughbred horse racing.
