Bernice Bonsack, 89, of Grand Island, formerly of the Wood River, Cameron area, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Tiffany Square Care Center. Bernice wishes were to be cremated. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Cameron Cemetery. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Bernice was born December 17, 1926, on the family farm in the Cameron area. She was the daughter of Orville and Ruth (VanWinkle) Conn. Survivors of the immediate family include her son, Dennis Bonsack of Wood River, NE Daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy Newman of Woodridge, VA Marilyn and Doug Denman of Alda, NE Nelda and Jerry Yeager of Hastings, NE Sister and brother-in-law: Clareen and Bill Hecht of Dolan Springs, AZ Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Danielle Bonsack, Jennifer and Jim Macek, Jessica Bonsack, Jackie and David Cordell, Philip Denman, Tammy Wilson, and Matt Wilson. 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Bernice grew up in the Wood River, Cameron area, graduating from Alda High School. She married LaVern Jim Bonsack in February of 1945 at Grand Island, NE. They lived in the Wood River and Cameron area where Bernice was a farm wife working alongside her husband Jim. She enjoyed ceramics and crocheting. Jim died July 6, 2000. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wood River. Memorials are suggested to the Cameron Cemetery.
