Audrey M. ORourke, 95, of Grand Island, NE, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Tiffany Square Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leos Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald A. Buhrman will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 4 7 p.m. at St. Leos Catholic Church with a Catholic Daughters rosary recited at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Audrey was born February 23, 1921, at Broken Bow, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Charles and Marie (Larsen) Wolfe. Survivors of the immediate family include three daughters & sons-in-law: Sheila Gleason of Grand Island, NE Peggy & John Zlomke of McCook, NE Erin & Richard Brady of San Diego, CA Two sons & daughters-in-law: Dennis & Sherryl ORourke of Yankton, SD Kevin & Mary ORourke of Hastings, NE Others left to cherish her memory include 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren. Audrey grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Sr. High School with the class of 1939. She married Gregory ORourke on October 23, 1943 at St. Marys Rectory in Grand Island, NE. They moved to Mobile, AL, returning to Grand Island in 1948. She was employed at the old St. Francis for ten years. Later Audrey became an escort at the VA Medical Center for 27 years. Mr. ORourke died 2004 and her daughter Maureen Pearson died 2006. She enjoyed visiting family and friends. She loved her soap operas, and puzzle books. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans for her six children and a few of her grandchildren and relatives. She was a member of St. Leos Catholic Church and its ladies auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of Americas, Court Ave Maria #1263 and the VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory and a daughter Maureen Pearson. Memorials are suggested to St. Leos Catholic Church or the Humane Society.
