Anita A. Hansen 66, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday, July 4, 2015 peacefully at her home. Anita was born June 6, 1949 at Grand Island, NE. She was the daughter of Oscar G. and Grace E. (Pillard) Mueller. Anita grew up in Grand Island attending Dodge Elementary, Barr Junior High and graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1967. Anita married Robert D. Hansen on June 1, 1968 at Grand Island. To this union, two daughters were born, Jami and Jessica. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1971 at the University of Nebraska. She furthered her education at Kearney State College receiving her Master of Art in Elementary Education with a minor in Social Science in 1973. Anita taught elementary school for the Grand Island Public School system, 17 years at Engleman Elementary and eight years at Howard Elementary retiring in August 1997 after 25 years, due to health reasons. She was a member of NEA and NSEA and was active in Beta Sigma Phi and Alpha Delta Kappa Sororities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, loved spoiling her grandson Riley, crafting, drawing, flower gardening and reading. She was an avid Scrabble player joining her Scrabble Buddies on a weekly basis. In her younger years she earned her Private Pilots License and enjoyed flying her fathers airplanes. Anitas joy in life was her family.

Others left to cherish her memory include grandson, Riley G. Hansen; sister, Rona Albers (Gary) of Phillips, NE; nieces, Brandi Kanning (Dale) and Kellie Haynes (Brian); grandniece and grandnephews, Dillan Haynes, Grace and Sawyer Kanning; and numerous friends.
She will also be missed by Harley, her loyal and faithful dog.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother.

Anitas wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with plans.
